Leaking Tanks

Leaking Tanks

Nothing is more irritating than having your tank completely emptied out due to leakage-- not only are you wasting a tank load of juice, it’s also quite a mess. It’s happened to most of us at least once... but here are some simple tips you can use to avoid it.

1. Airflow
It’s extremely common when your tank leaks, your liquid will come out directly from your airflow. Although, the airflow is used to adjust your vape ventilation to allow the pull to be more airy or restricted, it is also a great way to avoid leaks!
Your airflow should be completely sealed off for two reasons: When you are filling up your tank with more liquid, and when you are no longer using your device.
We advise you to seal your airflow up when your device is no longer in use so nothing will go in and nothing will come out!

2. DUD Coils
This is a “hit or miss” type of situation. As with most mass-produced products, there will always be a few duds. A “dud” coil may not sit flush within your vape allowing excess juice to easily pass through your airflow. If you are experiencing leakage with a new coil, try reinstalling the coil first to make sure it was properly screwed in-- and if that didn't help, you may want to consider that you have yourself a dud coil.

3. Correct Wattage
Since we’re on the topic of coils, here’s another tip!
Always make sure that you are using the correct wattage for each coil. Every coil-- even from the same manufacturers/company may use a different power output. Often times, the recommended wattage will be stated on the coil or the package, if not you may always ask an employee at NYX ECIGS online, in-store, or over the phone!

4. Correct juice viscosity
The PG/VG  ratio of your juice has a huge impact on your tank. Juices with more VG (Vegetable Glycerin) tends to have a thicker viscosity, whereas juices that contain more PG (Propylene Glycol) is thinner. Often times, the most common PG/VG ratio would be 70/30 ( 70% Vegetable Glycerin/ 30% Propylene Glycol). If you are unsure which juice is right for your device, feel free to consult with an employee at NYX ECIGS.

5. Cracks
It’s quite common for tanks to leak very subtly due to a tiny chip or a crack we may not be aware of. Always double check to make sure where the leak is coming from without jumping the gun! A replacement glass piece here at NYX ECIGS starts at $4.99, don’t be too quick to replace a perfectly good tank due to a small chip!

6. Filling your tank
Is it a top fill tank? Bottom fill? Now with these new innovative tanks coming out with different juice slots and methods of filling up your tank, it may get confusing at times. When purchasing a new set up at NYX ECIGS, we always offer our assistance for the setup to make sure everything is running smoothly and to go over the steps to ensure your device is being used correctly.

7. O-rings
Those small rubbery circles around your tank are what keeps your tank sealed up and held in place. If they start getting loose over time or if they happen to snap right off, you should always have spare o rings that come with your unit! You can take apart your tank and examine the O-rings closely to avoid all that hassle and fuss for the future!

8. Sealed
It is a quite common occurrence to have your tank leak uncontrollably if the vape tank isn’t fastened together properly. Some tanks can be quite sensitive with its threading so the best thing to do is to find its “sweet spot” to ensure your tank is not screwed on too tight or too loose!

9. Position
It is not recommended to have your tank in horizontal positions for long periods of time. Although some tanks are made to withstand horizontal positionings without any leakage, others may not. Please try to keep your tank in a vertical position (upright position) when not in use!

10. Clean
Over time, your tank will develop residue from your e liquids which could cause complications with the various parts of the tank. To clean your tank, remove your coil (avoid getting water into your coil), take your tank apart and rinse under lukewarm water. You can either air dry it overnight or use a paper towel. Install a new coil (unless you’re reusing your coil) and you’re good to go!

If these steps do not apply to you and you still experience leaking, please visit or contact NYX ECIGS and a trained professional will be happy to assist you with any questions, comments, and/or concerns you may have.
